Description:
Prepare to be amazed! Dr. Thomas created his Saving the Seniors Program to address overlooked issues of safety in this vital
and growing community. This generation of active seniors, whether working, volunteering, or enjoying retirment, needs to be
street smart and street safe more urgently than ever, and to learn practical self-defense methods. Dr. Thomas will
demonstrate simple maneuvers, such as how to escape from holds and how to use a cane to deter an attacker ("cane do"), and
talk about scams perpetrated by people who prey on those they regard as potential victims. People of all ages will enjoy and
learn from this interactive demonstration that will wrap up Greenbelt's celebration of Active Aging Week (September 20-25)
that offers free activities for all ages.
